May 2012, Columbus, Ohio, USA. Midwest weather can and often changes rather rapidly. This tire handles such changes with little notice. In the spring and autumn our weather can vary greatly in temps. in a few hours, and from sun to snow even quicker. The summer months are often HOT and HUMID, with severe storms that dump inches of rain in a short period. The winter months are just as difficult; clear blue to Blizzard conditions in a matter of hours, with exterme COLD and heavy snow and at times thick freezing rain! The DWS has dealt with all these changes without difficulty. If you drive keeping the weather and road conditions in mind, this tire will provide you excellent service. A little extra bonus is the comments I have received about the tread design. They have varied widly, but always positive.
In conclusion, BUY this TIRE!
Pros: Great Handling, Short braking distance, Innovative tread design, Hydroplane resistance, Extended treadlife, Superior traction, Smooth and Quiet ride, buy

Currently driven over 23K miles on them (80% highway, 20% city). Plenty of thread life left. DWS wear bars are still visible. Terrific traction in wet condition. Drove through a torrential rain on a highway at 75 mph and there was absolutely no hydroplaning. As to the ride quality - feels softer than OEM at same tire pressure. In fact, higher the outside temperature, the more rubbery the tires felt rather than becoming stiffer. The dry traction and handling are on par with OEM tires, but DWS seems have higher rolling resistance as indicated by a loss of about 1 mpg fuel consumption on the average compared to OEM. DWS seems to have a better grip, but the cornering feel is less sure, perhaps due to the softer feel. This is NOT a track tire. Snow traction is above par, but it's not a snow tire. After initial 5K miles, developed vibration issues that could not be fixed via repeated road force balance. It's not too harsh, but very annoying. In cold weather (below 50 degrees F) the vibration is very noticeable. At above 65 degrees the issue is less noticeable, but it's there between 60 mph - 80 mph range. It was quieter than OEM when new, but after 5K miles, the noise level was on par with OEM.
Pros: Hydroplane resistance, Extended treadlife, Superior traction
Cons: vibration

I've ran 2 sets of these on my 02 BMW 530i last car with good results with moring flat spotting for the first 10 min, I just installed them on my 07 BMW 530i the flat spoting is much worse and I've bad vibrations issues with them. I had them rebalanced, wheels checked for bends and the car gone over same problem. The bald Brigstones ran smooth, these do not no matter what i do. both the Bridgestones and DWS tire where the same load rang.
I just now learned their changing the load ranges on this tire, hoppfuly it fixes the issues.
Pros: Great Handling, Hydroplane resistance, Extended treadlife
Cons: will not ballance, 2 seem out of round when installed

After much research and reading rave reviews on these tires, decided to purchase in June of 2010. These tires are on a Saab 93-Aero and are only used in the summer time. To date have put approx 32,000kms/20,000 miles on the tires. In July of 2011 started noticing a vibration coming through the steering wheel, on highway driving around 110-120km per hour. Noticed that this was more noticeable when the tires were cold and would dissipate as tires warmed up or after the first 15 - 20 minutes of driving.
Have had the car cheched, tires balanced and rebalanced several times, inflated with nitrogen , all to no avail. The only answer I keep getting is that there may be a flat spot and fter road forcing the tires, nothing can be found that is out of the ordinary with the tire.
These tires are amazing in wet weather. The grip is the best that I have experienced. Have not used these in snow as I usually switch to snow tires in the winter. But I seem to have this annoying vibration during cooler temperatures and its not a pleasant driving experience.
Will try to inflate tires by a few extra psi to see if this helps.
Wish there was something that could resolve this. Very frustrating.

Chose these tires because I prefer Continental on all my cars the usual i've gotten are Pro-Contacts which is not bad either. I have an '07 WRX so I needed more of a performance tire, i've got about 3,000 miles on them and in my experience so far has been pretty good. My only two concerns with them is that they do flat spot but it corrects itself no biggie and cornering they tend to be a bit noisy not sure if its the "teeth" they have for the snow as a cause of that, the noise seems to be dying down though with use not sure if thats normal. I hope to get a long life out of them and even wear!
Pros: Great Handling, Short braking distance, Hydroplane resistance, Smooth and Quiet ride
Cons: noisy cornering

The ride on these tires was terrible after the first 3 months. We had them balanced three times by two different shops in an attempt to correct the ride. They never rode right after that first three months the car shook so bad I couldn't wait to replace them. I will not buy Continental tires again.
We drive mostly thruway and not aggressively. There is no reason these tire should not have lasted at least the rated 50,000 miles. They were rotated every other other change at approximately 6,000 miles.
Cons: Short treadlife, Noisy, rough ride, sound like a re-cap

I've had this tire on my 09 VW Jetta for 30K miles. Wear is excellent and I fully expect to get another full year and 20K miles. Winter traction is fantastic. I do not believe you will find an all season tire with better snow and slush performance. My previous vehicle was a 4WD Explorer and I feel very confident in my current vehicle with traction control and these tires. The sidewall is a little soft when cornering hard but the tread life, comfort and traction more than compensate for a 4 out of 5 on the performance side.
Pros: Hydroplane resistance, Extended treadlife, Superior traction, Smooth and Quiet ride, the best winter traction for an all season tire
Cons: sidewall a little soft in hard cornering

I have put apporximately 10k on these tires since august in New Hampshire driving conditions. I have been through torrential down pours, very deep mid october snows, and have been thouroughly impressed. I live on a hill where you have to make a 90 degree turn and then go up at about a 65 degree angle and I have yet to even see the traction control light on my 2010 Focus even flicker in wet/bad weather. Today I just drove 30 miles on roads covered with slush and snow and even felt comfortable enough to pass two AWD vehicles that were holding up traffic. The final test was driving through the parking lot at my office which had almost 7 inches of unplowed snow in it. Never once spun a tire and never once saw the traction control light.
Pros: Great Handling, Short braking distance, Innovative tread design, Hydroplane resistance, Superior traction
Cons: Noisy

I purchased two Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires 275/40R18
for my wife's 2000 Corvette because of the extremely high tread
wear rating. The tires have been a HUGE disappointment :
- after only 7,800 miles one rear tire shows very significant wear
- the other tire shows enough wear that I doubt it will reach
20,000 miles
By comparison Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires I had before usually lasted around 30,000 miles on the rear, and 40,000+ miles on the front, so the Continental is a huge disappointment, given their tread wear rating. They are equally noisy on concrete pavement as the Michelins, plus the Michelins are ZP which means they can be run with a leak in an emergency.
Cons: Short treadlife, Poor performance in rain, Noisy, poor performance in snow
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I put these on my 2006 Volvo V70R and absolutely LOVE them it is the best all season tire out there hands down I recommend them to all my customers ESP the ones with AWD cars it saves you from having to buy an extra set of wheels and tires for snow . As far as flat spotting yes they do but after a few miles of driving it goes away so when I wont be driving the car for a few days I put it on the lift..
Pros: Great Handling, Innovative tread design, Hydroplane resistance, Superior traction
Cons: flat spot when left sitting

Since I've had these tires put on I've had nothing but trouble. Ordered from Tire Rack because the trouble free OEM tires (Continental ContiProContact run-flats) were finally just worn out. Had them put on and immediately there was an vibration above 50 mph even after road force balancing. All tires and wheels were 'within spec' said the technician. Had them balanced once again to no avail. Had all 4 tires replaced by Tire Rack which seemed to curb the vibration for about 4 days until it came back, even with 4 replacement tires! These tires have seen nothing but temps below 50 degrees so my only guess is significant flat spotting that doesn't go away even after they are driven on for 60+ miles. I was lured in by the great reviews others have given, but I won't make that mistake again. They may be fine in warmer climates, but they're horrible in the cold. So much for "all season" tires.
Cons: vibration

When I had first purchased my vehicle the dealership had these tires on and I was to say the least skeptic. I have come from a long line of Goodyear lines on all of our family vehicles and saw these tires as "cheap" or sub par. For the first 10k I was VERY pleased, even in the thick of winter they performed above and beyond what I had expected. Unfortunately after about 15k they started to wear unevenly I had them taken it to be looked at and the dealership said I had not followed the 6-8k rotation schedule. Like I previously stated I have always purchased Goodyear and never had to rotate my all seasons less than 10k usually unless I saw uneven wear. To make a long story short, at 25k I am replacing two of the tires because my two front tires (Which were rotated only once) are thrashed. If you are seriously considering buying these tires then FOLLOW THE WARRANTY GUIDELINES. If you do not then the tires will NOT last and they will NOT do anything to help you.
Pros: Great Handling, Innovative tread design, Hydroplane resistance, Smooth and Quiet ride, great in the snow, priced well
Cons: Short treadlife

I have a 01 Mustang. These tires are much quieter than my previous Contiextreme contacts (old design). My only complaint is they need to be rotated alot to wear even. The front tires started chopping at 15,000 mi with 3/4 tread left. Still handle good. These are great in the snow. will get me anywhere as long as it not as deep as the doors.

Bought my first set two winters ago and am now ready for a new set after about 35,000 miles of spirited driving. Best set of tires I've owned on any car. Great in snow up to the ground clearance of the vehicle. Drive a Maxima now and these tires do a great job of putting the horsepower on the pavement. Plus when I bought these I got a free GPS to boot...would buy another set without the promo!

I had OEM ContiProContacts on my '08 Audi A4 FWD and it was replaced at 24,500 miles, I can actually stretch another 5K on them but I know I won't get anywhere near the rated 60,000 miles claim. But since one of the front tires had developed an impact bubble, I might as well replace them all.
So far I like the DWS, they handled okay but nothing significant over the OEM ProContacts. I actually thought the latter had a more stiffer/solid handling and ride, but these grip better. The only thing I'm not too fond about the DWS' (compared to the OEMs) is the noise level. They seemed to develop a faint whirring sound between 40-50mph but descends as I go faster and on the freeways. The car practically 'glides' when it reached 90-100MPH and I didn't even noticed driving that fast.
I must admit though that my car does feel completely different due to the design of the DWS tires. My car also tend to 'pull' a bit to the right which prompted me to get the alignment done the very next day. It somewhat improved and it doesn't pull as much, but rather 'steers' slightly to the right a bit, but nevertheless, much better after an alignment. The steering also seems to 'wander' a bit and not as tight and solid compared to the OEM ProContacts.
As I mentioned, these are great tires, but I'm just concerned as the tread wear fades, the noise level might increase. I couldn't comment for the snow part since we don't get any here in L.A., the most I can hope for is heavy rain, if it gets the chance to see it. I will keep them on my car for a another week or two and see how the noise level goes, if not I'll switch them out for the original OEM ContiProContacts since they have a 60-Day ride guarantee.
Pros: Great Handling, great grip, very nice ride on high-speed straightaways
Cons: Noisy
